I have been involved once more in the Snowdrop Festival in Shaftesbury, it was a very busy week for the town, the Arts Centre and the Pop up shop.

The exhibition at the Museum in Blandford has ended. It proved highly successful for me and also raised money for the museum in commission on pieces sold.
We had a very good Meet the Artist evening at The Blandford Town Museum. The exhibition is now on until the end of October as part of the "Regeneration Project". Manned by a volunteer force the museum is a marvellous treasure house of Blandford, with plenty of expert knowledge to explain the exhibits.

Do come and see the exhibition of "In Close Focus" works at Blandford Museum. "Meet the Artist" for drinks and nibbles on Friday 3rd October, 5pm to 7pm.

The exhibition was very successful and one of my paintings should soon be on its way to a new home. I have been invited to do a solo exhibition in October at the Museum. The Buddleia and Peacock and one of the Tumbling Banks should be ready and framed by then!

I hope this picture will be picked up soon, it has come out a little more saturated in colour than the original, which is calmer and more relaxing.

A selection of my work, with Claire Thomas and Clare Shepherd will be held in Blandford Museum during the month of August. There will be a MEET THE ARTISTS evening, watch this space for an invite!

Sherborne Art Club selected these pictures to hang in their annual Open Exhibition. It is a very large and prestigeous exhibition with over 600 paintings chosen. If you have a chance go and visit, The Digby Hall, by the library, Hound Street, Sherborne. It is open until Sunday 3pm.

Summer Poppies

Into the month of July and I am beginning new projects for exhibitions later in the summer. I am will find out on Friday if I am selected for the Sherborne Arts Society Open Exhibition, so watch this space for news!

It's hard to imagine all the people who thronged this garden in Dorset Art Week, so quiet now.

Well, Dorset Art Week is now over and many thanks to everyone who came to visit. We had well over 600 visitors!  An amazing record amount, a 50% increase on other years. We were so pleased at the reactions of our visitors and will be posting a few garden photos as soon as it is all cleared away and we can breath again! The next scheduled big show is not until 2015 at Shaftesbury Arts Centre. Please watch this page for information on that. Meanwhile I hope to be delivering some paintings to Gallery on the Wey at Upwey after a little rest. If anyone wants to phone or email me to enquire about availablity of any picture or print they saw during DAW please do so and I will get back to you.

I have been having a busy time getting everything ready for Dorset Art Week, only 20 days away at the time of writing. This is the biggest event for Open Studios in the whole of Great Britain. So we all put on our best show.

In the lead up to the event I have been mounting and wrapping various prints and having cards printed . Here is a taster of my range of cards and prints:

Brochures are available locally, and the Blandford Area have produced their own trail map. Please contact me if you are having difficulty locating either.

Just to remind you we are having a NO SALES tea party preview from 3pm to 6pm on Friday 23rd May. This will give anyone a chance to browse before the start of the big event. we are hoping for fine weather so we can enjoy the garden where nearly all my flower paintings originate

Irises and wisteria at the front, and poppies galore leading up to my celery leaf green studio.

All cards are 1.80 each, the prints are priced individually, some are limited edition prints , all are signed.

I had a very good evening at Poole and East Dorset Art Society on 1st May. Some of the work I did is posted on my "Works in Progress" page.I thought I would also post this image, in the break members from the Society came and tried my brushes and colours on the page where I had been showing a few techniques to try. I thought the result was wonderful, colourful with great marks and after visiting the Matisse I thought about "Oceana" Thank you PEDAS for a lovely evening.

Broadstone Art Group 2014

I was invited to give a demonstration to The Broadstone Art Group in January. I promised to post the pictures that I worked on that afternoon. Here is the finished Holly, and the Snowdrops. The snowdrops turned out a little bit browner that I had imagined, but you can see the negative painting technique that I employed. I am working on the poppy picture, here is as far as I have got.

Here is the next step of the poppy picture I began. I am not quite happy with it as I think I have been too heavy handed too soon. I will photograph as it develops.
